Important Returnee Information

Study Abroad Evaluation

All students are required to submit the Study Abroad Evaluation upon the conclusion of their program. Failure to submit the Evaluation by the last day of the quarter following participation in study abroad will result in the $500 deposit being charged to the student account. This is not reversible.

Receiving Your Grades and Transcript

Typically, transcripts are received from abroad between one and four months following the completion of the academic program abroad. Students who intend to apply for scholarships or graduate programs should keep this time frame in mind at the time of application for off-campus study. Once the SCU Office of the Registrar receives your transcript from abroad it will also take them several weeks to process.

In most cases, programs will send your transcript directly to the SCU Office of the Registrar without you requesting it.  In some cases, programs require you to formally request that your transcript be sent to SCU. If your program requires you to formally request your transcript, you should request that transcripts be sent to:

Office of the Registrar:
Santa Clara University
500 El Camino Real
Santa Clara, CA 95053

If by electronic transcript, then to OOTR@scu.edu

Eager for your grades?

  • Pay your bills.  Transcripts may not be released to students with outstanding balances with their programs.
  • Contact your program to see if grades have been mailed yet

Registering for Courses at SCU with Prerequisites from Abroad

If your grades and transcript are not yet received but you took a prerequisite for an SCU course while you were abroad, the best thing for you to do is to go to the department or the professor of the class that you are trying to get into and seek a permission number

Go Abroad Again!

Students are only able to study abroad once during the academic year (Fall, Winter, Spring) through Study Abroad during their undergraduate career, however, students are highly encouraged to research other global opportunities that they can take advantage of at SCU. Students are encouraged to reach out to specific programs about their requirements and deadlines.

Note: Students can study abroad in the summer multiple times.
