Health Profession Advising Camino (Canvas) Page
All essential pre-health advising and communications are delivered through an advising “course,” delivered via our Health Professions Advising Camino page.
If you are a pre-health student and not on our pre-health email list or registered on the Health Professions Advising Camino site, complete this survey and contact Dr. Brian McNelis to be added to this Camino page.
We enroll all pre-health student (about 400 students) in this advising course and this resource is being used extensively by our pre-health students with about 10,000 page views per month. We do extensive intake surveys sent to all SCU students to identify student’s professional interests and to have an accurate roster of pre-health students on campus. To ensure communications about programs and experience opportunities, we can reach all pre-health students using our email list from surveys and the Announcement feature in Camino. The Camino class can be viewed by anyone at the university.
We use the modules to provide all the information specifically curated for our pre-health students. Importantly, we seek out the best resources available focusing on effective and low-cost resources. For example, students have identified the best practices and resources for professional exam preparation (MCAT, DAT, etc.), and we post that information to our Camino page for the benefit of all of our students. Interestingly, the most expensive testing resources are not viewed as the most effective by our students.
Our policy is to not post any high-cost resources or experiential opportunities and we carefully consider and review all resources we post to our Camino page.
