SCU grants education benefits to provide opportunities for personal and professional educational development for benefit-eligible employees and their qualifying dependents at qualifying institutions, including SCU. Although employees may be eligible to participate in the Education Benefits Program, the scholarship and/or admission is not guaranteed.
Tuition Remission
The University grants education benefits to provide opportunities for personal and educational development for all benefit-eligible employees taking Santa Clara University courses for credit. It also has several education benefit programs for spouses, registered domestic partners, and dependent children (as defined by the IRS) of eligible employees. Those participating must be admitted into the school/program in order to participate in Tuition Remission.
Eligibility
Benefits Eligible Employees
Employees who have completed one year of continuous service in a benefits-eligible position and hold an FTE of 75% or higher can receive 100% Tuition Remission at Santa Clara University for themselves. Tuition Remission will cover 8 graduate units or 2 undergraduate courses per academic quarter/semester (Fall, Winter, and Spring) and 4 graduate units or 1 undergraduate course for the Summer term. Any benefits-eligible employee with an FTE less than 75% will receive the benefits on a prorated basis in accordance with their FTE.
Eligible Dependents
Employees who have completed three years of continuous service in a benefits-eligible position and hold an FTE of 75% or higher can receive 100% Tuition Remission at Santa Clara University for their dependents. There is a one degree limit per dependent that Tuition Remission will cover.
Dependent children must meet the IRS definition of dependent and claimed as dependent for income tax purposes at the time of each and every registration for any undergraduate course and under the age of 30 for graduate degrees.

Tuition Reimbursement
The Tuition Reimbursement Program provides benefits-eligible employees with Tuition Reimbursement for themselves or their eligible dependents of up to $3,000.00 per calendar year, with a lifetime benefit limit of $12,000.00 per employee, for tuition and educational fees. Employees may use Tuition Reimbursement for any college, university, or vocational program listed by the US Department of Education as an accredited post-secondary institution.
Eligibility
Benefits-eligible employees who have completed three years of continuous service with the University can apply for Tuition Reimbursement for themselves and their dependents.

Employees may use Tuition Reimbursement towards courses or vocational certificate programs, provided courses or programs are job-related
Eligible Dependents
Dependents must be matriculated students pursuing an Associate or Bachelor's degree or vocational certificate program. Tuition Reimbursement will not cover graduate programs for dependents.

Tuition Exchange
The Tuition Exchange program is a national scholarship exchange program for institutions of higher education. Children of eligible employees may apply for undergraduate admission to participating institutions and, if accepted, are eligible for tuition remission subject to the terms and conditions set by the accepting institution.

Benefits-eligible employees who have completed three years of service and hold a position with an FTE 75% or higher can apply to be considered for an undergraduate Tuition Exchange Scholarship for their dependent children at the participating schools. SCU cannot guarantee that an application, regardless of qualifications, will receive a Tuition Exchange Scholarship.
Deadline
For Export Applicants: All Tuition Exchange applications need to be submitted by December 1.
For Import Applicants: All Tuition Exchange applications need to be submitted by December 31 to be considered for a scholarship at SCU.
Faculty-Administrator's Children Exchange Program (FACHEX)
FACHEX is a program in which children of eligible employees of participating Jesuit colleges and universities may apply for undergraduate admission to one of the institutions and, if accepted, are eligible for tuition remission subject to the terms and conditions set by the accepting institution.
Eligibility
Benefits-eligible employees who have completed three years of service and hold a position with an FTE 75% or higher can apply to be considered for an undergraduate FACHEX Scholarship for their dependent children at the participating schools. SCU cannot guarantee that an applicant, regardless of qualifications, will receive a FACHEX Scholarship.
