Graduate Degree Checklists

 

A three-year academic and professional degree for those preparing for pastoral ministry in the Roman Catholic Church in the U.S. 


Offers students a broad understanding of the Catholic theological vision with areas of concentration including liturgy, history, spirituality and ethics.


Master of Arts (M.A.)

The Master of Arts (Common M.A.) is a two-year program leading to an academic degree in theology in cooperation with the GTU.


Concurrent Master of Divinity/Master of Arts

Students can integrate a primarily ministerial degree with a more specialized academic degree program.


One-year program in advanced theological study beyond the Master of Divinity degree, available in almost any area of specialized interest.


Students admitted to the doctoral programs (Ph.D. and Th.D.) offered by the GTU may be affiliated with the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University (JST-SCU).


 

Ecclesiastical Degrees Checklists

 

A Roman Catholic ecclesiastical degree that ensures a solid knowledge of theology and a strong foundation in Catholic doctrine.


A two-year Roman Catholic ecclesiastical degree in advanced theological study beyond the Bachelor of Sacred Theology and Master of Divinity degree.


The third cycle in the program of ecclesiastical degrees intended to complete the scientific theological formation, especially through the writing of a doctoral dissertation.


 

Non-Degree Programs and Special Status Checklists

 

A holistic sabbatical experience of contemplative rest, theological renewal, and spiritual transformation, for clergy, men and women religious, and laity, from the Bay Area and around the world.


Recommended for persons who have as their primary objective an unstructured period for general theological renewal or pastoral training.
