Dear Santa Clara University Community,
In this latest edition of the Prepared SCU Roundup we share key information related to SCU’s response to COVID-19.
COVID-19 cases remain elevated in Santa Clara County. The current 7-day average of new cases is 1024, and the positivity rate in the county has risen to 10.4%.
Please get tested if you have been exposed, if you are experiencing any symptoms, and after you return from travel. Wear a mask indoors.
Summer COVID-19 Testing
Between June 13 and August 7, Color tests are available only in Benson Memorial Center and at the front desk of JST.
In Benson Memorial Center, Color tests will be picked up on Mondays and Thursdays only. Please drop off your test before 3pm. Tests dropped off on other days will not reach the lab in time for analysis and will be rejected by the lab.
This change in the campus Color PCR testing schedule for the summer does not diminish the importance of continued testing, especially when:
- You are experiencing symptoms
- You have a close contact exposure
- Before and after you travel
Rapid antigen tests are available through the summer for those who have symptoms, or who have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 90 days.
- For students at the Cowell Health Center, 9am-2pm Monday-Friday.
- For faculty and staff at the Campus Safety office Monday-Friday.
What to do if you test positive
- Complete the SCU COVID test result survey immediately.
- Follow guidance from the COVID Ops team when they reach out via email or phone in response to your survey submission.
- Tell your friends and close contacts to get tested (SCU Testing Protocols).
Masks are still required in some settings
- The classroom mask requirement remains in place for summer classes.
- Students and faculty are required to wear a mask in the classroom at all times unless a pedagogical exception has been granted. Please remember that eating and drinking are not allowed in classrooms.
- Students, faculty and staff with approved exemptions for the COVID-19 vaccine are required to wear masks in all indoor settings.
Stay safe and well,
SCU COVID-19 Operations Team
