Today begins the holy month of Ramadan, a time when our Muslim sisters and brothers practice fasting, prayer and charitable works as a way to deepen their relationship with God. Ramadan will conclude on May 23 with the celebration of Eid Al-Ftar, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast." In the spirit of solidarity and interreligious engagement, we wish all of our Muslim students, faculty, staff and friends many blessings in their prayer, almsgiving, and fasting.
Salaam Alaikum ("Peace be upon you"),
Kevin F. O'Brien, S.J.
