During this most unusual of Thanksgivings, I recorded a few thoughts and reflections I would like to share with you today.
Our holiday tables will be very different this year in the midst of this historic pandemic. And many in our community are struggling with the impacts of this crisis, missing loved ones or dealing with loss, isolation and loneliness. I pray that you find some comfort in the simple things and enjoy some well-deserved rest this Thanksgiving break.
I am grateful for our entire community, particularly our generous faculty and staff who labor so much for our students. Thank you to all of you for embodying our mission in this extraordinary and very challenging year. Let us also recall the many frontline workers who have sustained us since March by their service to the wider community.
It is important at this time of year, and every day, to give thanks for the opportunity to live, work, learn and pray on the traditional homeland of the Ohlone and Muwekma Ohlone people. The blessings of this land continue to unfold in our time.
In gratitude and hope,
Kevin F. O'Brien, S.J.
