Hello Potential Tech Edge J.D. Mentor!
We invite you to join us as a mentor for a promising student in the incoming Tech Edge J.D. cohort. By sharing your expertise, you have the unique opportunity to help shape the next generation of leaders in law and technology.
Why Mentor with Tech Edge J.D.? The Tech Edge program bridges the gap between legal theory and practice. Through collaboration with Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, externships, and—most importantly—guidance from mentors like you, students graduate not just with a degree, but with a portfolio of real-world experience and the confidence to succeed.
Your Role: We invite you to guide a student through their three-year law school journey. While the time commitment is modest, the impact is profound. Our mentors consistently tell us that this continuing relationship provides a meaningful way to reconnect with the academic community and give back to the profession.
Next Steps: To join our robust community of legal professionals, please create your mentor profile here.
Thank you for helping our students differentiate themselves in a competitive market. We also welcome you to share this invitation with other professionals in your network who would be valuable additions to our mentorship community.
“As a first-gen law student, I’m so grateful to my Tech Edge mentor who has been there for me every step of the way. She guided me through 1L classes, internships, and OCIs. Throughout my 2L year, she set up mini-workshops where I got to meet her colleagues and learn about different areas of the law.” TEJD graduate Michelle Truong
Expected time commitments:
- Attend a brief training session for mentors (this will be conducted via a self-paced webinar) – about 1 hour
- Preferably attend a networking event for mentors/TEJD students (time TBD in the fall; about 2 hours)
- Schedule a site visit/shadow event for your mentee to visit your workplace or attend an industry event with you (per year) – 1-2 hours/year
- Meet with your mentee once per semester – 1-2 hours/year
Thank you for giving Santa Clara Law students the valuable gift of your time!
Kindly,
