Spring 2010
Saint Clare Room, 3rd Floor, Harrington Learning Commons, Sobrato Technology Center And Orradre Library
Tuesday, April 20, 2010
7 - 8:30 p.m.
The Santa Clara University Library is pleased to present The Myth of Multitasking by Dave Crenshaw as the Spring 2010 Book of the Quarter. With the subtitle "How 'Doing It All' Gets Nothing Done," this book is a perfect topic for today's busy SCU students and faculty.
The Book of the Quarter program will include a panel presentation, moderated by Teri Escobar, Head of the Library's Technology Training Program. Four panelists will bring different perspectives to the subject of "multitasking." Panelists are:
- William Mains
- Lecturer, SCU Leavey School of Business, Undergraduate Programs - Leadership
- Sandra Trafalis
- Lecturer, Department of Psychology, San Jose State University
- John Tylko
- SCU Undergraduate, Marketing/Communication
- Galina Pappu
- SCU Graduate Student, Educational Administration
Each panelist will talk about multitasking from his/her unique perspective. Then, with the author's permission, all attendees at the presentation will have an opportunity to take the "Multitasking Challenge" exercise. How successful are you at multitasking? The program ends with Q&A and general discussion.
It isn't necessary to have read the book, in order to attend the Book of the Quarter program; but it's short and a quick read. You may be able to read it while you are doing something else, and test your ability to multitask. Copies of the book are available for sale in the campus bookstore.
