About the Book
Authors Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn believe that the most effective way to fight global poverty is to unleash the potential of women. Their book has been described as a call to arms to set free this potential by denouncing the abuses suffered by women around the world. According to Publishers Weekly, "New York Times columnist Kristof and his wife, WuDunn, a former Times reporter, make a brilliantly argued case for investing in the health and autonomy of women worldwide." A Library Journal review has this to say about Kristof and WuDunn, "they argue that the key to change is social entrepreneurs who can empower at the grassroots level through such means as education and microloans." Their best selling book has inspired a global movement for change.
About the Authors
Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn shared the Pulitzer Prize for Journalism while reporting for The New York Times. Their coverage of the mass movement for democracy in China made them the first married couple to win such a prize.
