About the Book
At some point in our lives many of us will face the challenging discussions that accompany end of life decisions for a loved one. At what point do we say, "Let my loved one go?" Based on the revolutionary New York Times magazine piece, "What Broke My Father's Heart," this memoir will "change the national conversation about the end of life."
Knocking on Heaven's Door is the story of a family's journey of living while dying and of the technology that prolongs the dying process creating more suffering than solace. Butler exposes the difficult moral choices faced when the inevitable reality of death meets the technological advances of 21st century healthcare.
About the Author
Katy Butler is an award-winning journalist, a National Magazine Award finalist and winner of the "Science in Society" prize from the National Association of Science Writers. She has written about neuroscience, medicine, Buddhism, and human behavior for The New Yorker, The New York Times, Vogue, Mother Jones, the Los Angeles Times, MORE, and The Washington Post
