Fall 2016
What stories about sex and reproduction are left untold?
Join the SCU Library as we welcome Kate Cockrill, co-founder and co-director of the Sea Change Program which seeks to end stigma and shame around reproduction, and editor of Untold Stories. Susan Ito, an author whose essay is featured in the book, will join the discussion.
Untold Stories: Life, Love, and Reproduction is a collection of 17 personal essays that invite us to explore different reproductive experiences ranging from pregnancy to infertility to abortion. “Written by ordinary people who offer extraordinary perspectives, these stories spark curiosity, amplify empathy, and expand opportunities for connection across difference.”
SCU Professor of Law, Michelle Oberman, and Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies, Laura Ellingson, will join Cockrill and Ito in conversation as they explore the impact of the Untold Stories Project.
How might these stories impact you?
The stories opened my eyes to new issues and the people experiencing them. They gave me more empathy.
Just coming together and talking about these things seems to make us feel more connected to each other.
Discover your own reactions at our Fall Book of the Quarter discussion. Refreshments will be provided after the discussion.
