Spring 2004
The first Literary Cuisine was a big success. Seventeen members of the campus community met in the Williman Room on May 18, 2004 for a superb lunch (thank you, Bon Appétit!) and conversation about John Steinbeck, and specifically, about Steinbeck's Log from the Sea of Cortez.
Our guest speaker, Susan Shillinglaw, Director, The Martha Heasley Cox Center for Steinbeck Studies, and just back from the Sea of Cortez herself, provided commentary and insight into the pioneering work of Steinbeck and Ed Ricketts, as well as her own observations of the current expedition.
Back to the Sea of Cortez: Sailing with the spirits of John Steinbeck and Ed Ricketts on a new voyage of discovery around Baja California, a two-part report and additional information about this voyage is available on the NPR Radio Expeditions website.
The Library has many books by and about Steinbeck for your reading pleasure.
The National Steinbeck Center in Salinas, CA is the primary resource for information on John Steinbeck.
