Every year MOBI updates and resets its courses. New courses will be available on January 1, 2019.

If you are currently enrolled in a 2018 MOBI course, you will have until February 1, 2019 to complete your course. If you do not finish in time, you can enroll in a 2019 course using your existing userid and password. Unfortunately, progress in one course cannot be transferred to another.

This applies to MOBI's open courses: Starting a Business, Business Expansion, Iniciar un Negocio and Expansion de Negocios. Partner courses are not impacted.

Here are the 2018 MOBI alumni! This year nearly 900 students representing 59 different countries completed one or more MOBI online entrepreneurial course.

We are so proud of the accomplishments of our MOBI students around the world. Each quarter we will share the story of one MOBI entrepreneur.

Meet Foreigner BG, a social entrepreneurship in Bulgaria founded by one of our MOBI/Bulgarian Entrepreneurship Center (BEC) students. Daniel Montiglio is an expat originally from Chile now residing in Bulgaria. With Foreigner BG, he provides free information and resources to help other foreigners establish a life and career in the beautiful country he now calls home.

 

MOBI partners are an important part of our program! By forming partnerships with diverse communities of students around the world, MOBI can inspire entrepreneurship in ways that best meet the specific opportunities of each group, and always for free.

Sam Houston State University is our featured partner for Winter 2019. We interviewed Robert (Chip) Matthews, J.D./C.P.A. regarding the SHSU/MOBI partnership. Mr. Matthews is the Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise and Associate Professor, College of Business Administration, for Sam Houston State University.

Why you chose MOBI? I wanted my Entrepreneurship I class to focus on the practical steps involved in starting a business and found most textbooks were way too theoretical. When Phil Holland's materials became available through Santa Clara University/MOBI, the Starting a Business course was simply the most logical option to accomplish my objective. When I added a second course, Entrepreneurship II - Growth and Harvest, MOBI's Business Expansion course filled my needs as well. 

How is MOBI making a difference for your students?  One, our students are primarily hard-working, small-town young men and women who are looking for practical guides to starting and growing businesses. Two, no cost is particularly attractive to many of our students, who typically do not come from affluent backgrounds. Three, the ability to earn certificates is very appealing to them and is also a useful addition to their resumes when entering the job market.

(And anything else you would like to add?)  The support from Santa Clara University and My Own Business Institute has been consistently outstanding. The supplemental materials--videos, templates, and others--are particularly useful, and we discover more ways to use them in the classroom every year.
