Curriculum Updates in Starting a Business!
We are excited to announce we are in the process of updating the curriculum within our Starting a Business course! You will continue to find the fundamental business topics and actionable instruction MOBI has always provided. We have now added some new information and other areas of interest.
Check out Session 5: Business Organization to learn how business entities are different and which one is right for your business. We’ve added information about S-Corporations, Social Purpose Corporations, and Nonprofits as well as updating other areas. Session 8: Communication Tools now provides more information about internet calling, collaboration tools, task management applications, and social media. Session 10: Choosing a Business Location includes new information about non-traditional working spaces such as incubators, shared workspaces, and services only locations. We’ve also updated the Site Criteria Table to help you evaluate potential locations.
More updates are to come, so stay tuned!
MOBI Success Story
We are so proud of the accomplishments of our MOBI students around the world. Each quarter we will share the story of one MOBI entrepreneur, or a group of entrepreneurs, such as this quarter's feature.

MOBI partner Waukesha County Technical College uses the Starting a Business course curriculum to complement its Entrepreneurship program. In this program, WCTC provides a unique real-world entrepreneurial experience, inspired by the hit ABC show Shark Tank, to prepare students for business ownership. This is our featured success story of the quarter to showcase just one of many ways the MOBI course and curriculum can be customized to best prepare aspiring entrepreneurs for success! Partner Spotlight
MOBI partners are an important part of our program! By forming partnerships with diverse communities of students around the world, MOBI can inspire entrepreneurship in ways that best meet the specific opportunities of each group, and always for free.
AIMIT (St. Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology), St. Aloysius College (Autonomous) in Mangaluru, India is our featured partner for this quarter. St. Aloysius is a private, coeducational, Jesuit college located in Mangaluru, Karnataka, India. We interviewed Faculty Coordinator and Professor in the Department of Business Administration, Dr. Swapna Rose, regarding the partnership with MOBI. St. Aloysius is MOBI’s first partner and our longest running partner relationship. Through this collaboration students have received over 1,000 MOBI Certificates of Completion.
* Why you chose MOBI? Fr. Denzil Lobo S.J., Director, AIMIT, visited MOBI Executive Director Drew Starbird, Ph.D., in August 2014. Professor Starbird was Dean of the Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business at that time. Fr. Lobo was intrigued by the MOBI program. Subsequently, he invited his faculty and staff to examine MOBI. St. Aloysius Dean of International Relations Vincent Mascarhenas later contacted Professor Starbird to explore opportunities for collaboration.
* How is MOBI making a difference for your students? MOBI Curriculum has been tailored as a compulsory add on component of the entrepreneurship specialization in the even semester. The students get an exposure to an international curriculum on entrepreneurship and all have the immense satisfaction of obtaining a Certificate of Completion from the prestigious Santa Clara University.
* (And anything else you would like to add?) Here is a photo from a recent presentation, held as part of an Entrepreneurship Development Programme event presented by St. Aloysius College with Kanara Global Entrepreneurs.
