Find an Internship, Shape a Company: Second Annual Startup Expo Taking Place March 7
An event for SCU students features internship opportunities at dozens of new companies creating everything from robots for dangerous jobs; software for veterinarians; video sharing sites for families; or a website for those secretly in love with friends.
SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 6, 2012 — In an unusual twist on the traditional internship fair, Santa Clara University’s undergraduate entrepreneurship club is sponsoring the second annual Startup Expo, featuring about 50 Silicon Valley startups seeking students to help their ground-floor ventures succeed.
The expo will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the University’s Benson Memorial Center, California Mission Room, 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA.
Students from all majors have been invited to the early-evening fair, which offers paid and unpaid internships as well as part-time and full-time opportunities with start-up companies.
The event is sponsored by the undergraduate Santa Clara Entrepreneurs Organization (SCEO), the University’s Career Center, and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of SCU’s Leavey School of Business.
Students say interning at startups is a great way to get exposure to the fast-paced startup culture; to contribute to multiple divisions of a company from marketing to strategy to finance; and to work alongside founders and CEOs of companies, who may hire them after graduation.
