Orientation Webinar Series
Throughout the summer for Orientation 2024, we will be offering live Zoom webinars for new students and parents to learn more about SCU.
- Any webinars that are specifically for new students or specifically for parents will be denoted as such.
- For those who cannot participate in the live sessions, we will have recordings available so you may view them at your convenience.
- Once these recordings are available, we will upload them to our YouTube channel.

Here are a few notes regarding webinars:
- For each topic with multiple dates, you only need to register and attend one session, not all sessions.
- All times will be listed as Pacific Daylight Time (PDT).
- And all sessions are free!
Instructions
Step 1: Sign up for Campus ESP, our university's hub for families to stay involved with their students and SCU. Read More about Campus ESP.
Step 2: Join the Orientation Hub Community.
Step 3: Navigate to the Events tab on the left side of your screen.
Step 4: View the active sessions and click the register button on sessions that interest you.
Step 5: Once registered, a confirmation message will appear at the top of your screen.
Step 6: Attend the session and check back into Campus ESP for any additional sessions added throughout the summer!

Members of the Orientation Team will share what Parent and Family Orientation will look like this summer, provide an overview of a weekly webinar series starting in July, and highlight ways for parents and families to stay engaged with SCU throughout the academic year.

Come meet College of Arts & Sciences Dean Daniel Press! He will introduce our educational philosophy in the College and how you can support and encourage your student to take full advantage of all that the College has to offer.

"What is a Residential Learning Community (RLC) and How it Can Help with Your Student's Transition to SCU"
This webinar will outline what Residential Learning Communities (RLCs) are, what we do in our RLCs at SCU, and how RLCs can support students in their transition to SCU. There will also be time for questions.

"The SCU Undergraduate Academic Experience"
Dr. Katie Heintz -- Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies and Teaching Professor in the Department of Communication -- will introduce the SCU Core Curriculum and illustrate how it is designed to provide all undergraduates with a well-balanced education that complements their majors and supports the Jesuit principle of "educating the whole person."

"Seminario de Orientación Para Padres y Familias en Español"
En este seminario, nuestros expertos en educación y bienestar compartirán valiosos conocimientos y estrategias prácticas en temas clave, incluyendo:
- Recursos para padres, familias y estudiantes
- Consejos de estudiantes y personal universitario
- Transición exitosa a la universidad
- Manejo de estrés y la presión académica
- Fomento de la salud mental y emocional
- Comunicación efectiva entre padres e hijos
- Recursos financieros y becas disponibles
- Oportunidades de voluntariado y participación en la comunidad universitaria
También habrá una sesión de preguntas y respuestas, donde podrán enviar sus dudas con anticipación o plantearlas durante el seminario.
Además de las sesiones informativas, tendrán la oportunidad de conectarse con otros padres y familias de la comunidad de Santa Clara. Podrán compartir experiencias, intercambiar consejos y establecer relaciones que los acompañarán durante todo el trayecto universitario de sus hijos.
