In an effort to encourage electric vehicle (EV) drivers to share EV charging spaces across campus and offset our operational costs, we will be reactivating the following pricing plan at each of our ChargePoint stations starting January 1, 2024.
Electric Vehicle Charging Policies and Procedures:
- A ChargePoint account will be required to charge at any ChargePoint station.
- All ChargePoint users will be charged for electricity used to charge their vehicle.
- EV owners are required to display a valid SCU parking permit while using the stations or be subject to a parking citation.
- EVs must be actively charging when parked in EV spaces.
- After four hours of charging, the vehicle must be moved or will be subject to overtime fees.
- SCU EV charging is only permitted at designated ChargePoint station spaces. Any charging outside of these designated spaces is subject to citation.
- No refunds. Please contact the Support team for further assistance.
SCU Constituents (current SCU students, faculty & staff) Pricing:
$2.00 per hour
Overtime Fee: $5.00 per hour after 30-minute grace period (while plugged in and fully charged)
Non-SCU Constituents Pricing:
$3.00 per hour
Overtime Fee: $8.00 per hour after 30-minute grace period (while plugged in and fully charged)
A day permit, visitor permit or pay and display permit is required to park in any SCU parking garage or lot. View our current rate information.
Please refer to the ChargePoint app for comparison rates.
Our EV Charging Stations (EVCS) have been a great resource for our campus community to recharge their vehicles before leaving campus. Revenue generated at EVCS will offset the costs of utilities, the deployment of new EVCS, infrastructure, service maintenance, ChargePoint cloud support services, and will hopefully encourage fair use of the charging stations across campus.
To continue offering a reliable and high-quality charging experience while managing rising operational costs, ChargePoint will begin applying a small Service fee to certain types of charging sessions. This fee will not apply to free or zero-energy sessions, nor will it affect sessions completed through workplace or multifamily "connection" programs, fleet accounts, or those on roaming partner networks.
Drivers who initiate sessions without a ChargePoint account will be subject to a higher Service fee, while drivers using the ChargePoint app, RFID card, or vehicle-based authentication will see a reduced fee. These changes will be clearly communicated to drivers through the ChargePoint app, station screens, and receipts. Our fee structure will include:
Anonymous drivers (no ChargePoint account):
- $0.49 for AC sessions
ChargePoint account holder drivers:
- $0.25 for AC sessions
We appreciate your continued partnership and are committed to ensuring transparency and support throughout this transition. Learn more at Service fees. Please don't hesitate to contact our Support team with any questions.
Here is a Campus Map for your convenience that indicates the location of each EVCS on campus.
