David Anastasiu with the Computer Science and Engineering Department has received a $598,259 award

David Anastasiu with the Computer Science and Engineering Department has received a $598,259 award from the National Science Foundation to support his CAREER project "Explainable AI for Real-Time Video Anomaly Anticipation".

The research objective of this proposal is to develop real-time models for anomaly anticipation, i.e., early detection of an anomaly with enough foreknowledge to prevent its occurrence. The proposed methods will be applied to the problem of pedestrian accident prediction in a smart city environment.
