C.J. Gabbe with the Environmental Studies and Sciences Department has received a $35,150 award from University of California Los Angeles (funds originated with Department of Commerce National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) ) to support his project "Center for HeatReady Communities."
C.J. will provide consultation on heat resilience benefit-cost analysis as part of Core 4 within the Center for HeatReady Communities. C.J. will be responsible for engaging in a needs assessment with cohort communities; surveying the literature of benefits and costs of urban heat interventions; and identifying relevant data sources and strategies for adapting existing BCA tools to meet cohort communities’ needs. The three deliverables will be a memo describing the initial needs assessment; slides summarizing the literature survey; and a handbook demonstrating how existing data sources, tools, and other resources can be incorporated into a heat resilience BCA.
