The Office of Student Fellowships awards two Provost Research Fellowships of up to $1,500 for qualified students with promising research agendas. These summer research fellowships are intended to provide opportunities for significant independent research for students planning to pursue graduate study and major nominated fellowships. Candidates must be nominated by a faculty member willing to work with them to develop the research project and application, and to serve as mentor during the Summer. Hackworth Fellowships in Applied Ethics are for the duration of senior year and have a stipend of $4,000. Fellowship selections for the next school year are made by the end of the Spring Quarter. The goal of the Hackworth Fellowships is to have Fellows promote ethical reflection and reflective ethical action among their undergraduate peers. In order to pursue this goal, Fellows are expected either to develop their own programs in an area of interest to them or to work with existing programs at the center. These programs can be on as wide a range of topics and use as wide a range of methods as are of interest to each Fellow. Click here for more information.

The REAL Program provides paid experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences. Developed to allow students to discover their interests, gain a rich understanding of a particular field, discern their career goals, and explore future employment fields, the program provides up to $5,000 for experiences that last up to ten weeks during the summer. Alternatively, the REAL@Work program supports multidisciplinary team-based projects during the academic quarters. The Gerald and Sally DeNardo Science Scholars program supports the undergraduate research experience of outstanding science students with Santa Clara University faculty mentors. Scholars receive academic year and summer research awards, with additional resources for supplies and travel. Click here to learn more and apply.
The De Novo Fellowship aims to broaden representation of students in STEM by funding their work with faculty mentors on exciting research projects. A collaboration between the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering, the De Novo program awards research fellowships to outstanding students from underrepresented groups. Fellowships provide a $5,000 stipend for up to 10 weeks of full-time research, plus up to $750 for conference expenses to present their research during the following academic year.
