- 2025 WinnerMarco Bravo, Teacher Education Program
Dr. Marco Bravo is the Paul Locatelli University Professor of Education and Associate Dean in the School of Education and Counseling Psychology, and an overall outstanding member of our community. A “super Bronco” (BA, ’94), he credits SCU with being a transformative experience in his life. He brings to his role and his work tremendous energy, enthusiasm, and a deep commitment to Santa Clara University. During the past five years alone, he has secured nearly $11M in external grant funding, primarily from federal sources such as the National Science Foundation, the Department of Education, and the Institute of Education Sciences. This funding is to support a variety of projects focused on improving the education of emerging multilingual students who are learning English in school and improving STEM education through the use of effective language acquisition techniques. Dr. Bravo is known by his students as an open, interesting, and kind teacher who always has time for students’ needs. And, in terms of curriculum development, Dr. Bravo has provided extensive leadership in developing our Bilingual Education program, our Semilla Scholars program, the EdD in Social Justice Leadership, and the recently approved MA in Social Impact Leadership. Within the past two years, he completed the Ignatian Colleagues Program and has taken on many opportunities to grow his connection to Jesuit leadership.
