The Learning Commons
The Harrington Learning Commons, Sobrato Technology Center, and Orradre Library is a 194,000 sq. ft. building on four levels with more than 1100 reader seats of a variety of types, including carrels, small tables, lounge furniture, cafe, and outdoor terraces. The facility has more than 200 desktop computers; 2 video editing suites; a multi-media lab; wide availability of wired network connections and power; access to a secure wireless network; and more than 25 six or eight-person collaborative workrooms or other group study spaces that can be reserved via the web. The first floor has a large “Start Here” Desk, which is staffed by both the Library and IT.
Library services are available to Summer students online or in the Harrington Learning Commons, Sobrato Technology Center and Orradre Library. The ACCESS Card serves as a student’s library card. Services include borrowing privileges; remote access to licensed electronic resources; reference assistance; LINK+ and other document delivery; facilities for both individual and group study; and reasonably-priced photocopying and printing services. The University Library Website provides more detailed information about hours and how to use the Library’s services. It also offers links to the online system (OSCAR); many other electronic resources, including LibGuides for courses; and “Ask a Librarian” reference assistance.
