Leading Through Laudato Si': Spring 2025 Progress Update
As we reflect on the 10th Anniversary of Laudato Si’—Pope Francis’ urgent call to care for our common home—we celebrate the bold accomplishments of our dedicated Implementation Teams. Santa Clara University remains committed to the critical work ahead: transforming how we learn, consume, lead, and live to meet the needs of our ailing world and the people most affected by climate injustice.
"The time to find global solutions is running out. We can find appropriate solutions only if we act together and in agreement. There is therefore a clear, definitive and urgent ethical imperative to act." -Pope Francis, 2014
The Executive Sponsors of Sustainable SCU: Leading Through Laudato Si’ invite you to review this third progress update since the launch of the implementation phase in March
2024. As we move towards operationalizing this work into business as usual at SCU,Implementation Team members are working on the following three key focal areas:
- Integrate LTLS implementation within university budget cycles and fundraising to optimize potential funding sources.
- Benchmark data and trends for key indicators to quantitatively measure progress.
- Identify how to best leverage Implementation Team members.
- Where do we take action through our roles within Santa Clara’s operating system?
- Where can we convene experts and stakeholders to support advancing the university toward our goals?
- How can we best lift up and celebrate the important work being done by our campus partners?
