Data and Analytics Sustainability Coordinator reflects on her journey as a LEAD scholar, business student, and sustainability advocate as she begins a career in Technology Risk with EY.
“I’ve always been interested in sustainability—I recycle, buy secondhand, and care about climate change, social justice, and racial justice,” she explains. “I’ve loved being at a school where they advocate for a lot of those things, and it really inspired me to want to work somewhere that I could practice what I’m studying, but be proud of what they stand for.”
Raechel Guevara, our recently-graduated Data and Analytics Sustainability Coordinator, created a path for herself as a first-generation LEAD scholar, studying business while working to advance sustainability by shaping metrics into meaningful stories. Her inspiring journey was recently highlighted in the SCU feature story, How a business student found purpose combining data and ethics.
We're so grateful for her transformative work to champion sustainability, and are honored to have been a part of her journey. The Center for Sustainability remains committed to offering students opportunities for professional development that align with the university's core values and our shared mission of caring for our common home.
“I realized that sustainability is something that corporate America really cares about, because the more efficient you are as a company, the more money that’s available to shareholders.”
