10/13/21 - Workday Student is on its way...
Dear Santa Clara Community -
WARNING: This message contains a copious amount of pandemic cliches….
Since the Spring of 2020, we’ve shown ourselves to be resilient, nimble, and ready to pivot. During this unprecedented time, we’ve learned new ways of doing our jobs; baked bread and changed diapers during Zoom meetings; met our colleagues' pets, kids, and partners. We’ve talked about the post-COVID new normal and imagined a reset.
One thing that hasn’t changed during the pandemic is how we access and use student records. We still use multiple legacy systems that don’t communicate with each other when we teach, advise, and support students. Our current student record system (e-campus) is 20-years old.
More change is coming.
Approximately 115 SCU colleagues are already working on the development of Workday Student, which will replace our current set of systems with one streamlined tool that integrates all student records information in one place and allows access from any type of device, including mobile phones. The customization of Workday Student is expected to take two years, and when implemented in 2023, it should make the new normal better than the old normal.
You’ll begin receiving regular email updates about the progress of Workday Student development, and we hope you’ll accept invitations to provide your input. Look for an email next week about the short Change Readiness Survey, which will help our team better prepare the SCU Community for the transition. Remember, we’re all in this together….
Stay safe! Feel free to email me (kheintz@scu.edu) with any questions about the transition to Workday Student.
