11/22/22 - It's alive!!
Colleagues -
Workday Student is live on SCU campus - and you probably didn’t even notice!
MTP 1 - the first phase of “Move-to-Production'' - went live last month as Admissions and Financial Aid staff began processing new student applications. Records for all incoming students will be managed in the new system as we prepare to say “goodbye” to Peoplesoft (e-campus).
The new system will go live in March 2023 and be used campus-wide to manage Fall course scheduling and registration:
-
Continuing students will use it in Spring to register for Fall 2023 courses
-
New students will use it in Summer to enroll in their Fall courses
-
Academic departments will manage Fall course schedules and rosters
So what has been happening “behind the scenes” and how can I make sure I’m ready for the transition?
Sneak Peeks
Since September, the Change Management Team has coordinated virtual and in-person “sneak peeks” for faculty and staff across campus. The sneak peeks have included demonstrations of the functions for different types of users. Attendees provided valuable feedback for the production and training teams.
Hands-on experiences
We’ll hold our first “hands-on” meeting in December with our Transition Team, a group of staff and faculty who have been meeting regularly to provide feedback and suggestions. The Transition Team will get a chance to work in the system to access student records and course rosters, submit grades, etc.
Student volunteers and others who have not been part of the project to date will begin testing the system and providing feedback in January 2023.
How can I get a sneak peek or hands-on experience?
To request a sneak peek for your department, use this link.
Be on the lookout for information after the New Year about training opportunities and guided practice with the system before the May advising and registration period.
As we wind down the calendar year, I would like to once again thank those in the SCU community who have devoted countless hours this year to designing and testing Workday Student so it will fill the needs of our growing population. The Change Management Team is listening and learning and working to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.
Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday from the Change Management Team!
Sincerely,
