Campus Keys & Locks

The Facilities Customer Service Center manages Campus access for 4 different lock systems across campus for all non-Housing locations:

  • Hard Key Locks
  • Onity Locks
  • SecureAll Locks
  • Salto Locks

General information about the different lock types at SCU and how to request access can be found here

To request new, duplicate or replacement keys, follow these instructions.

Onity Locks are the "dip" locks located throughout the campus.  The lock depicted below is what most of the Onity locks on campus look like.

Requesting Access

If your department has new staff, faculty, contractors or students needing access to areas in your building and you are authorized to request Onity access, please use our online form to request and authorize access for these individuals. If you are not authorized to request access, please email your Facility Manager and they will send the request to our office.

The requester will be notified when their access request is processed along with instructions for next steps. If the person needs their card encoded, that individual can do this at either the Access Office in Benson or at the Facilities front desk in Building 604. Please do not have anyone come over for card encoding unless an email has been received from Facilities confirming that the request has been processed.

Staff at the Facilities front desk and the Access Office cannot encode access cards unless a request has been sent to facilities-csc@scu.edu and the requester has received an email stating that the request has been processed.

Salto locks are currently being used at multiple locations across campus. These locks work off of a chip in your ACCESS card, your phone or your Apple Watch, and require your card or mobile device to be held up to the lock until the light goes green in order to access a space. Information on how to use your credential at a Salto lock can be found in the Salto Locking System Handout.

If your department has new staff, faculty, contractors or students needing access to Salto locks, make your request using the contact information below:

The locations of all Salto Hot Spots for updating your card can be found on the Hot Spot Locations Map.

SecureAll locks are keyless locks installed on doors around the campus. There are 2 different types of SecureAll locks installed across Campus:

  1. SecureAll Lock - Requires a U-Key (FOB) to unlock the door using a proximity sensor
  2. SecureAll/Onity Lock - Either an Access Card or U-Key can be used to unlock these doors
SecureAll locks requiring the universal key (FOB) device to open doors are a silver with 2 black circular antennas above and below the handle of the door. The lock depicted to the right is what a SecureAll lock looks like.

Alt text: Silver door handle labeled

SecureAll/Onity locks that can be opened using either an Access Card or university key (FOB) look like a standard Onity lock with black antennas affixed to the top and bottom of the lock. The lock depicted to the right is what a SecureAll/Onity lock looks like.

U-Key (FOB) Information

  • The U-Key is a hands-free device. There are no buttons to press and it does not need to be "presented" to a door for it to unlock.
  • The U-Key can be left in a pocket, bag or purse between shoulder and knee height.
  • It will not work if blocked by metal (such as keys or phone), part of your body, or water.
  • When the U-Key gets within the preprogrammed activation distance, the door will unlock. If a door is locked, as it is approached with a U-Key, an LED will show solid green.
  • If the door is unlocked, i.e. is in "office mode," the LED will flash green.
  • There is nothing to do to lock a door that has been opened. Simply close the door and walk away. When the U-Key is out of range, the door automatically locks. The same holds true for a door that has unlocked when approached by a U-Key but never opened. Simply walk away and the door will lock.
