General Safety Programs
Electrical SafetySerious fire and shock hazards can result when electrical equipment is not maintained or used properly. Work is only performed on energized electrical circuits or components when it is demonstrated that de-energization introduces additional or increased hazards or is infeasible due to equipment design or operations limitations.
Equipment SafetyTools and machines are used to alter, separate or join a variety of materials. While tools and machines are frequently used on campus, we need to ensure that safe working procedures are followed.

Working at HeightsA Working at Heights Permit is required prior to commencing work if working at a height of six (6) feet or greater where no fall protection is in place, working from a ladder over twenty (20) feet in height, and doing scaffolding work where the work platform is six (6) feet or higher from the ground or floor. See program document for other situations where fall protection is required.

California Proposition 65, also called the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act was enacted in 1986. It was intended to help Californians make informed decisions about protecting themselves from chemicals know to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
