Curriculum Vitae (CV)

My primary research interest focuses on educational reform. How can we improve the educational system to increase student engagement and motivation? How do we teach to the mind, body and spirit? How do we develop future teachers and allied professionals to be successful and resilient in high-risk, demanding vocations? I am passionate about the critical role leadership development plays in fostering a more just and humane world. My teaching philosophy draws from best practices in teacher education, neuroscience, somatics, experiential education and mindfulness. Current explorations include how experiences in Nature impact vocational discernment, mindful leadership and an ethic of care. I am a certified SkyHorse Equine Guided Educator and hope to bring this powerful methodology to Child Studies students and practicing teachers. EGE has been used to improve personal awareness, communication, trust and leadership skills. In my spare time I enjoy scouting new trails with my golden retriever, photography, backpacking, reading, writing and public speaking.
