A Message from the Chair
Greetings from the SCU Accounting Department!
On the beautiful morning of June 17, 2023, I attended the undergraduate commencement ceremony in the University’s Stevens Stadium celebrating the graduation of 1,590 members of the Class 2023. Among them, 54 students were accounting majors and 13 A&IS majors. It has been a long time, especially after the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, since I witnessed first-hand the joy and excitement of our graduates.

The Accounting Department continues to host research workshops as part of our commitment to support faculty research. We invite nationally and internationally recognized scholars to present their research projects at Santa Clara University. These workshops provide opportunities for SCU faculty to interact with leading-edge scholars in the field and to present their own early-stage research to solicit valuable feedback. Read more >>
The Accounting Department offers a seminar series in the Winter Quarter for students who are interested in developing a broader understanding of accounting-related business issues. Accounting Boards
For the 2022-2023 academic year, the SCU Accounting Advisory Board convened in October 2022, January 2023 and in May 2023 for a joint meeting with the Young Alumni Board. The Board discussed possible curriculum revisions to better prepare our students for a career with enhanced skills on data analytics and project management. Read more >>
The SCU Accounting Young Alumni Board was created in 2022 and convened in January 2023 and May 2023. The SCU Accounting Young Alumni Board is a group of diverse accounting professionals who provide career mentorship, development, and networking opportunities to current students. Read more >>

Accounting Association News
The SCUAA is pleased to present the 2023 Accounting Professor of the Year award to back-to-back champion, Dr. Siqi Li. This award is voted annually by graduating seniors in the Accounting Association. Dr. Li has worked for the Accounting Department at Santa Clara since 2008, after earning her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, and has grown to be a favorite of many seniors when it comes to accounting professors. The Santa Clara University Accounting Association (SCUAA) successfully hosted many events during the 2022-2023 academic year, including in person career fairs and monthly SCUAA meetings hosting various accounting firms. Additionally, the SCUAA assisted students in preparing for the career fairs by hosting pre-event interactive workshops and also inviting a CPA exam review company to present on the latest CPA exam guidelines. The CAAP program will officially take a hiatus after the conclusion of the Weekend 2022 cohort in June of 2023 for program redesign.
