Nicole Mathwich
Nicole Mathwich ’12, Anthropology and Women's and Gender Studies, has received two prestigious awards to complete her dissertation titled: "Livestock in the Pimería Alta: Negotiations of Ecological Colonialism." Nicole is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Arizona. She received a Dissertation Fieldwork Grant from the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research and an Emil W. Haury Dissertation Fellowship from the University of Arizona School of Anthropology.
Mathwich was also awarded the Society of Ethnobiology 2017 Ecological Knowledge Research Fellowship to support her dissertation research on ecological and social impacts of the colonial introduction of livestock into the Sonoran Desert.
