Mathematics and Computer Science welcomes Professor Evan Gawlik
We are happy to have Professor Evan Gawlik join our department as an associate professor. Professor Gawlik received his Ph.D. from Stanford University. His research interests lie in numerical analysis. He states, "I am particularly interested in the design and analysis of finite element methods for partial differential equations and algorithms for numerical linear algebra. I am fond of the interplay between numerical analysis and differential geometry, so much of my work comes in one of two flavors: (1) using differential geometry to guide the design of numerical methods, and (2) designing numerical methods to solve problems that arise in differential geometry. A large part of my work is also motivated by applications to science and engineering."
