Kari was born and raised in Washington state and moved to Northern California in high school. She first came to Santa Clara University as an undergraduate eventually earning a B.A. in English (Class of ’93). After years of working in the high-tech field, she began working at SCU in the Counseling Psychology and Education Graduate program in February of 2000. She later moved into her role as the Department Manager for the Department of Modern Languages & Literatures in 2001 and has been working there since. She was awarded the Nancy Keil Service Excellence Award in 2010 and has served on Staff Senate twice. Santa Clara holds a special place in Kari’s heart as an alumna and she is proud to be a Super Bronco!
In her free time, Kari enjoys spending time with her husband along with family and friends. She is an avid reader and loves to crochet. She enjoys comedy shows and is a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers, despite never having lived in that part of the country. However, she is still known to root heartily for both the SF 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks as well!
