Debra Lambert
Debra Lambert is a singer, pianist and music director. A New York City native, Debra grew up literally backstage on Broadway, as both of her parents were in the business. She received her Masters in Opera from the the Hartt School and her BFA in Music from Carnegie-Mellon University. She has sung leading roles with the San Francisco Opera Center, San Francisco Symphony, Oakland/East Bay Symphony, Symphony Silicon Valley, Lake George, Connecticut, West Bay, Pocket, Livermore and Des Moines operas, Cabrillo, Bear Valley, and Mendocino Festivals, American Musical Theater of San Jose, Henry Street Playhouse, Hartford Summerstage and others. Some favorite roles include Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Perichole in Offenbach’s La Perichole, La Principessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, The Cat in Henry Mollicone’s Starbird and Phyllis in Sondheim’s Follies. Debra is a busy musical director for numerous productions around the Bay Area, and has done vocal master classes in Chengdu, Hangzhou and Guangzhou, China. She has taught for American Conservatory Theatre’s MFA in Acting program and was chair of the musical arts program at Notre Dame de Namur University. Debra's students are performing with San Francisco Opera, Opera San Jose, Broadway national tours, and Bay Area theaters, and have won vocal competitions at the national level. Her goal with each of her students is to help them find their own voice and style. Debra is a published illustrator and designer, and lives in Menlo Park with her husband and 6 rescue cats.
