The Physics Department offers a wealth of research opportunities to our students. Our faculty conduct research in such fields as superconductivity, computational neuroscience, theoretical atomic physics, and cryogenic particle detectors. Students are both welcomed and encouraged to participate. We also draw on the unique resources of Silicon Valley to involve our students in exciting, new science. In recent years students have carried out significant research projects at facilities such as NASA-Ames, IBM-Almaden, Stanford University, and the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory.
Summer Research
There are numerous opportunities for undergraduate physics students to participate in research. Many organizations including national laboratories, universities, and companies sponsor research for undergraduates each summer.
