The Psychology Department welcomes Dr. Scherrer
Kristen Scherrer recently joined the Department of Psychology as an Adjunct Lecturer for Psychology and the Neuroscience Program. Her current research with the Stanford Systems Neuroscience and Pain Lab focuses on examining the therapeutic effects of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for chronic pain conditions, such as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and Fibromyalgia. Before joining Santa Clara, Dr. Scherrer earned her Ph.D. at the University of Mississippi, where her research focused on developing and utilizing translational models to examine neuropsychiatric disorders. She then completed postdoctoral fellowships at the Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies, the University of Florida, and Stanford University where she broadened her research interests to include substance abuse and pain. Dr. Scherrer is enthusiastic about her new role and is eager to share her passion for research and teaching with the students at SCU.
