Josh Kindarara is an Imaginarium lab technician with a major in Computer Science & Engineering (COEN) and a minor in Mathematics (MATH). In the Imaginarium, he plays a vital role in the Imaginarium a programmer and game developer on the Greenhouse GameDev team. Josh was introduced to the Greenhouse team by fellow team member Alex Lopes, and with the support of former team lead Jake Tsuchiyama, he began working on level design and programming. Over time, Josh discovered his passion for programming in particular, continuing to collaborate with talented team members who excel in areas like art, level design, and sound.
One of Josh’s favorite aspects of being in the Imaginarium is its multidisciplinary nature. He enjoys meeting and working with students from various majors, each bringing unique skills and perspectives to the lab. Despite the lab's growth in size since his introduction, he considers himself to have built strong connections with nearly everyone, with the Imaginarium feeling like family. An unexpected surprise for Josh was discovering how many of his fellow members shared his love for music, especially jazz, and witnessing the incredible artistic talent within the lab. Josh’s best memory in the Imaginarium came during a busy spring as the team worked late into the night to finish Heartwood before a deadline. Despite the stress, the sense of camaraderie that came out of struggling with efforts on both the game’s deadline and classwork together made for an unforgettable experience.
Beyond his lab work, Josh is passionate about full stack development and enjoys experimenting with jazz, often turning songs from other genres into jazz renditions. Josh also loves photography, capturing moments with friends and events, and stays active by playing and watching football (“or soccer as the Americans call it”). With a love for collaboration and a laid-back personality, Josh brings both skill and humor to every project he tackles.
