In 2014 Derek won the inaugural Theater Bay Area Outstanding Lighting Design award for In the Heights at Broadway-by-the-Bay. He has won several awards and honors including 5 Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Awards for Outstanding Lighting Design on such shows as Sunday in the Park with George, Execution of Justice, Judevine, Stardust, and Woody Guthrie's American Song. He has received numerous Drama-Logue Critics awards for his lighting designs.

Karina Gutiérrez's work concentrates on the intersection of politics and performance, more specifically how digital interventions, institutionalization efforts, and historical narrative affect the development and sustainability of social and politically engaged performance companies and collectives in the Americas.

Gutiérrez’s canon of work centers on contemporary Chicanx and US Latinx theatre. She has published reviews in leading theatre journals such as Theatre SurveyThe Journal of American Drama and Theatre, Modern Drama (forthcoming), and Theatre Annual (forthcoming)Her article on the legacy of El Teatro Campesino (The Farmworker’s Theatre) is due later this year in the Latino Literature Encyclopedia for Students.

Leticia Ridley is a theatre historian and performance studies scholar whose research works at the intersections of Black feminism, Black Studies, performance theory, and Black digital humanities. Her research interests include Black theatre and performance, American popular culture, and sports. She is currently working on her book project, tentatively titled Hypervisibility Renderings: Black Feminist Performance in the 20th and 21st Centuries, which examines contemporary Black women’s performance cultures, or the ways that Black women artists, athletes, and musicians (who all occupy the position of celebrity) make culture that articulates their definitions of self and constructs alternative frameworks for themselves and other Black women to occupy. You can find her writing in Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies, and forthcoming in Journal of American Drama and Theatre and A Routledge Anthology of Sport Plays.
